Matt Poss & Rolling Thunder's 'STAN TOUR 2009

In May of 2009, we toured various U.S. Military Bases in Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Qatar. Our job was to give the soldiers a little slice of home, something to help them temporarily detach from the monumental importance, monotony and danger of their missions. Here is a small pictorial and video representation of the entire trip.

In regards to the soldiers who attended our shows, it seemed that hearing the music and experiencing a band was secondary to merely holding a conversation with someone from home - face to face. We were happy and honored to be that someone.
Catch us at a show sometime, and we'll gladly talk about the experience, tell you more about the daily lives of our soldiers, and why we believe in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Day 4 - MANAS Air Base in Kyrgyzstan Day 5 - Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan Day 6 - Visiting FOB Salerno in Afghanistan

Day 7 - Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan Day 8 - Visiting FOB Methar Lam and staying overnight at FOB Fenty Day 9 - Leaving FOB Fenty and arriving back at Bagram Air Base

Day 10 - Visiting and staying at Camp Phoenix Day 11 - Leaving Camp Phoenix, back to Bagram, leaving for Qatar Day 12 - Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar

Day 13 - Day off, visiting Doha, the capital of Qatar Day 14 - Starting for home, stranded in London overnight Day 15 - Home Sweet Home
